For the second year running the Telford & East Shropshire branch of CAMRA awarded The All Nations Inn with their prestigious Pub Of The Year award for 2011. The active branch members voted for their favourite pubs against criteria laid down by CAMRA themselves and the results were aggregated by the branch to produce a shortlist of six nominations.
Other CAMRA officers from outside the area were then called in to visit these establishments unannounced and marked the pubs independently to produce the final winner and runners up. They were judged on criteria such as customer service, décor, clientele mix, value for money, and of course the quality of their real ale. The All Nations will now be entered into the regional competition, and if successful join the 16 regional winners to battle it out to reach the final stages of the National competition.
Landlord, Jim Birtwhistle and Shires brewer, Mike Handley are delighted with the news and have worked closely together over several years to offer the best real ales and pub environment for it`s clientele. “It`s not just the beer!” said Jim “The knowledgeable staff and the quality of service are just as important and we have tried to keep the character of this historic pub intact.” he continued. Hopefully news of this award will encourage more visitors to this part of Shropshire and they will appreciate the beer as well.
Last year the “Joint Effort” in winning the Pub Of The Year Award was celebrated in style when customers and staff at The All Nations Inn were treated to a Hog Roast to accompany the presentation from local CAMRA officials. It was a full house but all were welcome and it was perhaps a first chance for many to taste the Shires real ales for the first time. Even if people didn`t make this event there is always a warm welcome at the All Nations and plenty to enjoy throughout the forthcoming year. Click here for more photographs ...
